नवाब हमजा अली खान साहब का महल और कब्र,शेखपुरा,बागपत. चार दीवारों और एक छत से बना एक छोटा सा मकान किसी के लिए बहुत बड़ा सपना होता है। लोग अपनी पूरी जवानी की कमाई लगा देते हैं उस घर की एक-एक ईंट को जोड़ने के लिए। उस घर में रहने वाले लोग उसे जन्नत की तरह सजाते हैं। �भारतवर्ष में आपको कई आलीशान महल देखने को मिलेंगे जिनकी दीवारें आज भी अपनी किस्से-कहानी सुना रही हैं। भारत के कई भव्य महल (खासतौर पर राजस्थान में) तो आज भी अपनी खूबसुरती की छटा बिखेर रहे हैं। जिनके बारे में पूरी दुनिया चर्चा करती है। वहीं कई ऐसे महल जो अब अपना अस्तित्व खत्म कर चुके हैं। कई ऐतिहासिक महलों को पुरातत्व विभाग द्वारा संवारा जाता है। उनकी पूरी देख-रेख का जिम्मा भारतीय पुरातत्व विभाग संभालता है। लेकिन भारत में कई ऐसे महल हैं जिनकी देख-रेख समय रहते नहीं की गई और वो आज विलीन हो चुके हैं। किसी जमाने में मेरठ (अब बागपत) के नवाब रह चुके नवाब हमजा अली खान साहब ने भी अपने परिवार के लिए एक आलीशान महल बनवाया था। करीबन 52 हजार एकड़ के साम्राज्य संभालनें वाले नवाब हमजा अली खान ने शेखपुरा में अपना भव्य महल बनवाया। उस जमाने की सारी सुख-सुविधाएं इस महल में मौजूद थीं। नवाब साहब द्वारा बनवाए गए इस महल को देखने के लिए दूर-दराज़ से लोग आते थे। कहा जाता है कि महल के बड़े-बड़े कमरों में सुंदर नकाशीयाँ बनी हुईं थी। इस महल को सुंदर बनाने के लिए नवाब साहब ने देशभर से बेहतरीन कारीगर बुलवाए और उनसे इस महल को आलीशान रूप देने को कहा। यह महल सन् 1832 में बनकर तैयार किया गया। बहरहाल, नवाब साहब के सपनों का महल पूरी तहर नष्ट हो चुका है। बस अब कुछ एक अंश ही आपको इस महल के होने का संकेत दे सकते हैं। इस क्षेत्र में यहाँ एक मस्जिद भी मौजूद है जो कि नवाब साहब ने अपने सामने बनवाई थी। इस मस्जिद में लोग आज भी नमाज़ पढ़ने आते हैं। मस्जिद से कुछ ही दूरी पर एक मकबरा है जिसमें नवाब साहब की कब्र है। इस मकबरे को बारहदरी यानि बारह द्वार वाला कहा जाता है। नवाब साहब के परिवार वाले बहुत सालों पहले ही दूसरे शहर व देश में जाकर ही अपना जीवन यापन करने लगे थे। Nawab Hamza Ali Khan Sahab’s palace and Grave,Shekhpura,Baghpat. Yet, there are many such palaces in India that have been neglected. Once upon a time, the Nawab of Meerut (now Baghpat), Nawab Hamza Ali Khan Sahab, built a lavish palace for his family. Nawab Hamza Ali Khan, who inherited a 52-thousand-acre domain, erected his stately residence in Sheikhpura. This palace has all of the conveniences of the day. Visitors would go long distances to see Nawab Sahib's palace. Beautiful carvings are claimed to have been done in the palace's large halls. Nawab Saheb enlisted the help of the top artisans from throughout the country to give this mansion a sumptuous appearance. In 1832, this palace was constructed. The dream palace of Nawab Sahib, on the other hand, has been utterly devastated. Only a few parts remain to provide evidence of the palace's existence. There is also a mosque in this region, which was built in front of Nawab Sahib. People still flock to this mosque to pray. A short distance from the mosque is a mausoleum where Nawab Sahib's burial is located. This mausoleum is called Barhadari i.e. the one with twelve entrances.
