The Forgotten Tomb of a Sultan’s Mother – Bibi Zarrina, Dholpur.
Hidden amidst the heritage of Dholpur lies the tomb of Bibi Zarrina, the mother of Sultan Sikandar Lodi of the Delhi Sultanate. Oral traditions recall her final days spent in Dholpur, and her tomb is said to mark the place where she passed away in 1516 CE (922 AH).
Though the epitaph has faded with time, it was clearly documented in 1885 by British archaeologist Alexander Cunningham, who identified the tomb during the British Raj.
Once better preserved, today it stands partly eroded — a quiet monument to a royal mother, remembered by few, yet still part of India’s layered past.
एक सुल्तान की मां की भूली हुई मजार – बीबी ज़रीना, धौलपुर
धौलपुर की विरासत में छुपी है बीबी ज़रीना की मजार, जो दिल्ली सल्तनत के सुल्तान सिकंदर लोदी की माता थीं। लोककथाओं के अनुसार, बीबी ज़रीना ने अपने जीवन के अंतिम वर्ष धौलपुर में बिताए और यहीं उनका देहांत हुआ, 1516 ईस्वी (922 हिजरी) में।
इस मजार का शिलालेख समय के साथ क्षीण हो चुका है, लेकिन 1885 में अलेक्जेंडर कनिंघम ने इसका स्पष्ट उल्लेख किया था, जब यह संरचना बेहतर स्थिति में थी।
आज ये मजार मौन है, अर्द्धविक्षिप्त अवस्था में — एक शाही मां की स्मृति, जो इतिहास के पन्नों में खो चुकी है, लेकिन अभी भी धरोहर बनी हुई है।
