Hidden near Hakim’s House and Jodha Bai’s Palace in Fatehpur Sikri lies Shah Quli Baoli, a stepwell built over 450 years ago during Emperor Akbar’s reign. Contrary to the common myth that Sikri was abandoned due to water scarcity, this baoli stands as living proof of a sophisticated water management system. It is a rectangular tank made of stone, with steps on two sides and sloped pathways on the others. Though its exact patronage is uncertain, some believe it is named after Shah Quli, the son of Maham Anaga.
