Kuchesar House, Meerut — A Living Royal Legacy. Built in 1933 by Rao Bahadur Giriraj Singh ji, Kuchesar House in Begum Bagh, Meerut, is a stunning example of art deco architecture — and remains the proud residence of the royal family of Kuchesar to this day. Commissioned by Sir Sobha Singh, the celebrated builder of Rashtrapati Bhawan, this elegant home is rich with history and timeless charm. The family lineage dates back to Rao Ramdhan Singh ji, who was honoured by Mughal Emperor Shah Alam I and acknowledged as ruler of an estate of 365 villages. Today, Kunwar Ajit Singh ji, an eighth-generation descendant, carries forward that legacy along with his wife Mrs. Nirlap Kaur and their sons Anantjit and Anekjit Singh — all equally devoted to preserving the heritage. A passionate horticulturist, Kunwar Ajit Singh ji has developed lush gardens and maintained the property with remarkable attention to detail. From high ceilings to antique furniture, the house remains a mirror to its glorious past. During the 1970s, Kuchesar House also served as a primary school named Mini Land, run by Mrs. Nirlap Kaur ji — and incidentally, it also happened to be the school where I began my own early education. Today, the family has restored and maintained the home to its former glory — a rare gem of architecture, dignity, and deep-rooted history. “Life is like boxing — you’re not defeated when you fall, but when you refuse to get up.” The Kuchesar family embodies this every day — Fearless. Humble. कुचेसर हाउस, मेरठ — एक जीवित शाही विरासत 1933 में राव बहादुर गिरिराज सिंह जी द्वारा निर्मित कुचेसर हाउस, मेरठ के बेगम बाग में स्थित है और आज भी कुचेसर के शाही परिवार का भव्य निवास बना हुआ है। इसे सर शोभा सिंह द्वारा बनवाया गया था — वही प्रसिद्ध ठेकेदार जिन्होंने राष्ट्रपति भवन जैसी इमारत बनाई थी। इस परिवार की विरासत राव रामधन सिंह जी से शुरू होती है, जिन्हें मुगल सम्राट शाह आलम प्रथम द्वारा राव की उपाधि दी गई थी और जिन्हें गंगा घाटी के 365 गाँवों की जागीर सौंपी गई थी। आज कुँवर अजीत सिंह जी, अपनी पत्नी श्रीमती निरलप कौर और पुत्रों अनंतजीत व अनेकजीत सिंह के साथ इस विरासत को गर्व से संभाल रहे हैं। कुँवर साहब एक सजग उद्यान प्रेमी हैं, जिन्होंने इस घर के बाग-बगिचों को सुंदरता से संजोया है। ऊँची छतें, प्राचीन फर्नीचर और खूबसूरत सजावट आज भी उस युग की कहानी कहते हैं। 1970 के दशक में, कुचेसर हाउस में एक प्राइमरी स्कूल “मिनी लैंड” भी चलता था, जिसे श्रीमती निरलप कौर जी ने चलाया था — और संयोगवश, यहीं से मेरी शिक्षा की शुरुआत भी हुई थी। आज भी यह घर उसी गरिमा और शान से खड़ा है — मेरठ की विरासत का एक अनमोल रत्न। “जीवन एक मुक्केबाज़ी की तरह है — हार तब नहीं होती जब आप गिरते हैं, हार तब होती है जब आप उठने से इनकार करते हैं।” कुचेसर परिवार इस विचार को हर दिन जीता है — निडर। अथक। विनम्र।
