BARAHBASTI PATHANS, Bulandshahar,Hapur and Amroha . BarahBasti initially has a group of 12 villages but later it exceeds and now they are more than 12 lying in Bulandshahr and other districts of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. These villages are located adjacent to each other within an area of seven square miles, and noted for a high population of Pathans, in addition to other Muslims and Hindus. Pathan’s are the brave people all around the world. The name "Barabasti" is derived from the term "Barah Basti", 12 villages and town of PATHANS which in Hindustani means "twelve settlements". The twelve villages, now under the districts of Bulandshahr,Hapur and Amroha, are: Basi, Giroura, Bugrasi, Jalalpur, Chandiyana, Gesupur, Barwala, Amarpur, Sherpur, Bahadurgarh, Hasanpur, Buklana, Mohammadpur,Pooth. The Pathan‘s are known as people who are brave,simple and sincere in their dealings with others . they are noted as fierce fighters and throughout history they have offered strong resistance to invaders. They staunchly hold on to their cultural traditions and connect with one another in a visceral way. The Pashtuns or Pathans have a large community in the Uttar Pradesh state in India, who form one of the largest Muslim communities in the state. They are also known as khans, which is a commonly used surname amongst them, although not all those who use the surname are Pathans. Many Pashtuns emigrated from their homeland of Pashtunistan (present-day southern Afghanistan and northwestern Pakistan) to what is now northern India during the Mughal Empire. Many of them were traders, soldiers, and officers during the British Raj era. The Pathan have also been prominent in the Muslim religious sphere in UP, having produced many Ulama and Huffaz and have built and financed many Mosques and Madrassahs. In terms of formal education, they are seen as a Muslim community that has a favourable attitude towards education, and man y are now in professional occupations, such as medicine and the law. The basic economy of this area is based on agriculture. Barahbasti has many mango orchards, many varieties of mangoes are grown here like Dusseri, Bombayi, Chausa, Langda, Gulab-Jamun, Ratol and Fajri. You can find More than 100s varieties of mangoes in Barahbasti which are limited for their personal taste. The area supplies a large number of mangoes to the country, and has been declared fruit belt by the government of Uttar Pradesh.
