श्री दिगंबर जैन(प्राचीन)बड़ा मंदिर,हस्तिनापुर,मेरठ. श्री दिगंबर जैन बड़ा मंदिर हस्तिनापुर का सबसे पुराना जैन मंदिर है। मुख्य मंदिर का निर्माण वर्ष 1801 में राजा हरसुख राय द्वारा करवाया गया था, जो मुग़ल बादशाह शाह आलम द्वितीय के शाही खजांची थे। मुख्य मंदिर में प्रमुख (मूलनायक) प्रतिमा 16 वें जैन तीर्थंकर, श्री शांतिनाथ पद्मासन मुद्रा में हैं। वेदी में एक ओर 17 वें तीर्थंकर श्री कुंथुनाथ और दूसरी ओर 18 वें तीर्थंकर, श्री अरहनाथ की मूर्तियाँ हैं।मंदिर परिसर जैन तीर्थंकरों को समर्पित जैन मंदिरों के एक समूह से घिरा हुआ है, जो ज्यादातर 20 वीं शताब्दी में निर्मित करवाए गए थे । माना जाता है कि हस्तिनापुर में क्रमशः 16 वे तीर्थंकर श्री शांतिनाथ,17 वे तीर्थंकर श्री कुंथुनाथ और 18 वे तीर्थंकर श्री अरहनाथ का गर्भ,जन्म,तप और ज्ञान कल्याणक हुए हैं । जैन धर्म के अनुसार हस्तिनापुर से ही अक्षय तृतीया पर्व का भी प्रारम्भ हुआ था हस्तिनापुर में ही प्रथम जैन तीर्थंकर, श्री ऋषभदेव को राजा श्रेयांस द्वारा गन्ने का रस (ikshu-rasa) प्राप्त हुआ था जिसके बाद ही भगवान ऋषभ देव ने अपना 13 महीने का लम्बा उपवास समाप्त करा था अतः इसी दिन को अक्षय तृतीया के रूप में मनाया जाता हैं । जैन धर्म के अनुसार 700 मुनियो का उपसर्ग निवारण रक्षाबंधन का त्योहार यही हस्तिनापुर से ही प्रारंभ हुआ था जिसके पीछे एक पौराणिक कथा हैं । Shri Digambar Jain (Ancient) Big Temple, Hastinapur, Meerut. Shri Digambar Jain Bada Mandir is the oldest Jain temple in Hastinapur. The main temple was built in the year 1801 by Raja Harsukh Rai, who was the royal treasurer of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. The presiding (moolanayaka) statue in the main temple is that of the 16th Jain Tirthankara, Sri Shantinatha in the Padmasana posture. The altar has idols of Sri Kunthunath, the 17th Tirthankara on one side and Sri Arhanatha, the 18th Tirthankara on the other. The temple complex is surrounded by a group of Jain temples dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras, mostly built in the 20th century. It is believed that the 16th Tirthankar Shri Shantinath, the 17th Tirthankar Shri Kunthunath and the 18th Tirthankar Shri Arhanath were conceived, born, meditated and enlightened in Hastinapur respectively. According to Jainism, the Akshaya Tritiya festival also started from Hastinapur itself. It was in Hastinapur itself that the first Jain Tirthankar, Shri Rishabhdev received sugarcane juice (ikshu-rasa) from King Shreyansa, after which Lord Rishabhdev spent his 13 months He had ended his long fast, so this day is celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya. According to Jainism, the festival of Raksha Bandhan started from Hastinapur itself, behind which there is a legend.
