UNCHAGAON FORT,BULANDSHAHAR. The Fort of Unchagaon ,Bulandshahar is a mud fort just 71 km from Meerut,built during the 1850s and belonged to Jaat Zamindars. Raja Surendra Pal Singh inherited the fortress at the age of 10 and renovated it into an open heritage resort. Now Kunwar Rupendra Pal Singh ji (Binny) taking care of the property. Kunwar Surendra Pal Singh: date of birth 17-05-1917, Birth place is Village Banhpur. He was M.P. Loksabha from Bulandshahr in 3rd,4th,5th and 8th Loksabhas. He was state minister of external affairs and railways. He helped in Narora atomic energy power plant and cooperative sugar mill at Anupshahr. He got married to the daughter of Maharaja Kishan Singh of Bharatpur State in Rajasthan. The prominent D.L.F. owner K.P.Singh is cousin of Surendra Pal Singh. This place was restored in his guidance and is a beautiful blend of 20th century India and colonial architecture. The imposing white facade of Fort is surrounded by well-manicured, lush verdant lawns. A section of the fort is still used by the Rajas as residence. Another part of the palace, The Court, used to be the main office of the Zamindars in the 18th century. Today, it has a conference hall and seven bedrooms that display the grandeur of the past. The living room is a mini museum, with imposing portraits of the ancestors, tiger skins and a rare collection of swords. Unchagaon Fort is at a distance of 70 from Meerut,Unchagaon is village situated near River Ganges at a distance of 36 km from Garhmukteswar in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is an ideal place to visit from Delhi & Noida for a quick day trip. Unchagaon is known for sightings of Gangetic Dolphins. Unchagaon is also famous for Unchagaon Mud Fort. The old foundation of fort dates back to rule of Tomar Dynasty ,who were also the relatives of pilania jat rulers. The main ruling family moved from Bahanpur estate to unchagaon fort and present day hotel was constructed later on by successive rulers.Now it is owned by Raja Surendra Pal Singh, who inherited it at the age of 10. This palace was renovated by Surendra Pal Singh and now part of it is opened as a heritage resort/Hotel. After the death of Raja Gursahai Singh in 1898, his grandson Raja Karan Singh inherited the zamindari. He had no children & on his death in 1927, he adopted grand nephew Raja Surendra Pal Singh S/o Sh. Jagat Singh Pilania from village Banhpur who at time was 10 yrs old. The fort was completely renovated in 1933 when he got married to the daughter of Maharaja Kishan Singh of Bharatpur State in Rajasthan. Unchagaon is a fort village.
